The RICO trial involving Young Thug and his YSL colleagues has been temporarily put on hold until a separate judge reviews a motion to have Chief Judge Ural Glanville removed from the case.

AP reports that Thugger and the other defendants filed a motion seeking the recusal of Judge Glanville after he met with the prosecutors and prosecution witness Kenneth Copeland without anyone from the defense in attendance. They called the convergence “improper” and accused Judge Glanville and the prosecution of trying to pressure the witness, who had received immunity, into testifying. Glanville further explained that the motion will be reviewed by a different judge, but was unable to give a timeline of when a decision will be made.

Glanville also addressed his meeting with the prosecutors and Copeland and his lawyers, asserting that the prosecution had requested the meeting to discuss Copeland’s immunity deal. He confirmed that a transcript of the meeting will be released.

The court case is Georgia’s longest criminal trial in history, with jury selection beginning in January 2023 and opening statements not being made until November.
