Women’s Center expands Nifty 250 fundraiser with fashion show event

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WJMN) – The Women’s Center in Marquette is adding a new twist of fun to their annual Nifty 250 Fundraiser.

On Saturday, June 22, they are having a Nifty 250 Fashion Show in the parking lot of their thrift store Pak Ratz in South Marquette. The whole event is from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will also feature a food truck, face painting and balloon princess, a DJ and raffles including two tickets to any Walt Disney theme park. Proceeds from the event go right back to Women’s Center.

“It takes $250 to house a survivor at our shelter, Harbor House and their family for a week and so that’s where the 250 comes from,” said Andrea Numikoski, Development Director, Women’s Center.

To participate in the fashion show, local community men and women sent in a $250 sponsorship. The staff at Pak Ratz are decking out these models in some of their finest clothes and accessories to showcase on the catwalk on the day of the event.

“Part of our involvement of the Nifty 250 Fashion Show is bringing awareness to Pak Ratz Thrift store,” said Nikki Durand, Store Manager, Pak Ratz. “So where we are, where we’re located, to get more people aware of where the store is located. Pak Ratz is a program off of the Women’s Center and all the money that we make at Pak Ratz goes back into the Women’s Center and the Harbor House and the surrounding areas in our community.”

This is part of a month long campaign. For more information, click here.
