Where To Unlock Every Class In Final Fantasy 14
Final Fantasy is an RPG franchise well-known for its vast array of unique classes and jobs, and Final Fantasy 14, the series’ second foray into the MMORPG genre, is no exception. Featuring 19 different jobs at the time of writing, and further increasing with each new expansion release, Final Fantasy 14 is fast on track to have the most jobs in any Final Fantasy game.
Fans of the MMORPG genre are likely comfortable with the idea of creating alt characters to experience different classes, but Final Fantasy 14 departs from this tradition by allowing players to swap between jobs on the fly, meaning all jobs can be leveled on a single character. While some of these jobs will be available as soon as players unlock the ability to change classes, others will need to be unlocked through high-level side quests throughout the game.

Where To Unlock Melee DPS In Final Fantasy 14
Melee DPS are masters of offense, engaging with monsters face-to-face to unleash massive amounts of damage. While their damage output typically exceeds that of their ranged and caster counterparts, their limited range can sometimes restrict them from hitting their targets, requiring creative planning or precise footwork to keep the damage flowing. The five melee DPS jobs currently in the game are Monk, Dragoon, Ninja, Samurai, and Reaper (Viper will join their ranks with the launch of Dawntrail).

Where To Unlock Physical Ranged DPS In Final Fantasy 14
Physical Ranged DPS jobs in Final Fantasy 14 are mobile damage dealers with the ability to dispatch enemies without ever having to stand still in one place. While their damage output is balanced to be lower than that of the other DPS roles, they compensate by providing various supportive utilities to their party. The three physical ranged jobs span the spectrum of support capabilities, with the support-focused Dancer able to boost the damage of a chosen dance partner, the self-focused Machinist generating the highest damage of the physical ranged DPS, and the balanced Bard providing stat-boosting songs to their allies.

Where To Unlock Caster DPS In Final Fantasy 14
Caster DPS classes are the champions of dealing damage from a distance, taking advantage of a wide arsenal of spells to decimate enemies. While their damage output often exceeds that of their physical ranged allies, casters are also less mobile, requiring careful positioning to give themselves time to channel their attacks. The three caster jobs available are Black Mage, Summoner, and Red Mage. Additionally, Final Fantasy 14 has a fourth caster job, the Blue Mage, a unique limited job with a special progression system based on learning the spells of defeated enemies that’s restricted from entering traditional instanced duties without a preformed party.
