Unilever plans to cut one in three jobs in its European offices. This would amount to 3,200 fewer jobs. The brand manufacturer has not yet specified where the cuts are going to take place.
Leaner organisation
Unilever will enter into discussions with the affected employees in the coming weeks, claiming that it has not yet determined which regions will be affected by the job losses. The layoffs were revealed by the Financial Times, that was able to access a video message from HR director Constantina Tribou.
Tribou said the reorganisation is part of the “comprehensive productivity programme” announced by Unilever in March, to drive focus and growth through a leaner and more accountable organisation. At the time, the food producer announced it was cutting 7,500 positions globally. In Europe, Unilever employs more than 10,000 office workers, including some 250 in Belgium.
