UK authorities arrest suspect after mysterious dismembered remains found in suitcases near bridge
Police in England arrested a 34-year-old man for his alleged roles in the deaths of two men, whose partial remains were found in suitcases left near a suspension bridge, but the mystery of who the victims were and why they were killed remains unsolved so far.
Authorities have yet to release the suspect’s name, but said additional body parts, belonging to both victims, were later recovered from the man’s home in west London.
Cops in Avon and Somerset arrested the suspect early Saturday morning, police said in a statement.
Police received a call Wednesday night about a man with suitcases acting suspiciously near the Clifton Suspension Bridge, in Bristol, about 150 miles west of London, a statement said.
Arriving within 10 minutes, cops could not find the man, but located the first suitcase.
A second suitcase was found moments later, not far from the bridge.
The Metropolitan Police took over the investigation after additional remains were located in the suspect’s apartment. It was not immediately clear how they knew to look there or what connected the man to the grisly crime.
Police have yet to formally identify the victims and the causes of death have also not been determined.
“Extensive enquiries are ongoing, however at this stage police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident,” reads a statement on the arrest.
