Travis Scott Turns Miami Arrest into Fashion Statement
Travis Scott has found a way to turn his recent legal troubles into a business opportunity. The Cactus Jack founder was arrested early Thursday (June 20) in Miami on charges of disorderly intoxication and trespassing. Not one to let a setback go to waste, Scott has swiftly capitalized on the situation by launching a new piece of merchandise.
Shortly after posting bond, Scott released a T-shirt featuring an edited version of his mug shot from the Miami Beach arrest. The dark brown tee, available for $35 on his website, displays the mug shot with Scott’s signature smile replacing the original somber expression. Beneath the image, the phrase “It’s Miami” captures Scott’s reaction to the incident.
According to the arrest affidavit, Scott admitted to consuming alcohol and reportedly stated, “It’s Miami.” The “Free the Rage #2” tee will ship within a week, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Cactus Jack Foundation.
This isn’t Scott’s first time turning an arrest into a business venture. In 2017, he sold a T-shirt featuring his mug shot following an arrest in Arkansas for inciting a riot at his concert. He later pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in 2018.
Scott was detained at 1:17 a.m. and booked into Miami-Dade County Jail, facing charges of trespassing and disorderly intoxication. There was no physical altercation involved and that Scott was released after posting bond.
In a nod to his entrepreneurial spirit, Scott shared his mug shot on Instagram, adding white headphones and brown shades to the image. Fellow Houstonian Bun B praised Scott’s ability to turn a negative situation into a positive one, writing, “Chess not checkers” on his Instagram Story.
In the other news, fans can now hear from Scott on Mustard’s new single, “Parking Lot,” which was released today (June 21), adding another highlight to an eventful week for the rapper.
