Traveling for the Fourth of July holiday weekend? Keep these travel tips in mind.

Officials say Bronx travelers could see record-high levels of travel for this year’s Fourth of July celebrations making for a busy holiday weekend.

Port Authority is predicting 5.5 million people will fly out of Newark, LaGuardia, and John F. Kennedy airports and hitting the roads from today until Sunday, July 7.

It’s recommended for commuters to give themselves the extra time and leave early. Port Authority recommends being at the airport at least two or three hours in advance depending on national or international flights.

For those planning to take mass transit, the subways and buses will operate on a Saturday schedule starting July 4 for the holiday weekend, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The Long Island Railroad and Metro-North will run on Sunday schedules.

For drivers, AAA says the best time to hit the roads is today before noon. The times when you’ll see the most traffic is between 2 p.m. -7 p.m. today.
