Travel in the footsteps of dinosaurs at Delta Planetarium

“Dinosaurs: A Story of Survival,” a new production created specifically for the full-dome format, opens in the Delta College Planetarium at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 29.

Celeste, a smart and dreamy girl who discovered exoplanets beyond the solar system in the show “Beyond the Sun,” returns to travel in the footsteps of dinosaurs, telling the story of adaptation and survival of creatures that dominated life on earth for almost 200 million years. Celeste discovers that not all of them are extinct, that there are many dinosaurs surrounding us.

Dinosaurs is an award-winning film by Render Area, the Madrid-based studio of geologist, naturalist, and filmmaker Javier Bollaín. The Spanish company rose to international notoriety with its first film, “Beyond the Sun,” and is one of the few producers specializing in this type of audiovisual production. Its programs have been translated into 24 languages, reaching more than 20 countries.

“Dinosaurs: A Story of Survival” is family-friendly and has a run time of 30 minutes. Every performance is accompanied by a short follow-on presentation about the current night sky and hot topics. The program runs at 2 p.m. every Saturday, except July 6, through Aug 31. Admission tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for children 3-18, seniors, students and military. Tickets are now available online at delta.edu/calendar/planetarium or can be purchased on site. The Delta College Planetarium is located at 100 Center Ave. in downtown Bay City.
