Thousands travel for Memorial Day

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – The Memorial Day holiday has arrived and as the three day weekend wraps up, it’s a good idea to see the best ways to get back home.

According to gasbuddy.com, Louisiana’s gas price average sits 50 cents below the national average. The state’s $3.10 per gallon is the sixth lowest average amongst states nationwide, making the road trip back home worth the investment.

Flying back home into New Orleans or Baton Rouge shows a different trend. Flight Aware and the misery map show that there are already 425 delays within the United States and more than 40 cancellations in the morning hours of the holiday.

The Memorial Day holiday has arrived and as the three day weekend wraps up, it’s a good idea to see the best ways to get back home.

The holiday weekend of travel has already claimed more than 20,000 delays and north of 1,500 cancellations.
