The Best Prime Day Travel Deals 2024 – NerdWallet

It’s Christmas in July! At least, that’s what Amazon wants you to believe. Amazon Prime Day, an annual two-day sale of products for Prime subscription members, has turned into a commercial holiday for many companies — even travel service providers. Airlines, cruises and rental car companies are piggybacking on the buying frenzy, offering a slate of deals for travelers.

On July 16 and 17, you’ll see some Prime Day travel deals specifically for Amazon Prime subscribers, but others don’t require a subscription at all.

Here are some of the best 2024 Prime Day travel deals we’ve seen so far:

Airlines

Southwest Airlines

NerdWallet rating

Southwest Airlines, Amazon Prime Day’s first airline partner, is now offering 30% off base fares through July 17 with code PRIME.

Southwest members need to earn 135,000 Rapid Rewards points in a calendar year (or fly 100 qualifying one-way flights) to qualify for the coveted Companion Pass.

Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways is giving Privilege Club members special fare discounts July 16 and 17. Members of Qatar Airways’ loyalty program (which is free to join) can use promo code PCJUL24 for up to $150 off in business and up to $50 off in economy on base fares for travel from July 18, 2024, to March 31, 2025. Blackout dates apply.

Customers who are not yet members can sign up with enrollment code 48HJULY to collect up to 2,500 bonus Avios in economy class and 5,000 bonus Avios in business or first class after their first flight as a member. (Yes, Qatar Airways uses Avios, just like British Airways, Aer Lingus, Finnair, Vueling and Iberia.)

Air New Zealand

Air New Zealand is offering a discount on flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco one-way to Auckland, just in time to book a trip to the Southern Hemisphere during its spring and summer season.

Premium economy and premier business class fares are also going on sale. Prices start at $949 per leg, but book early as fares are subject to availability. No Amazon subscription or code is needed for this deal.

Experiences

Viator

Tour operator Viator is offering 20% off select travel experiences. Book here.

Book travel with the right credit card to earn extra points and miles on your purchase.

Cruises

Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival Cruise Line has partnered with Amazon to offer up to 40% off cruise rates, and up to half off deposits per person, and possible free room upgrades and up to $50 onboard credits. As of July 16, we found four-day Caribbean cruises starting at $324 per person for double occupancy staterooms.

Rental cars

Avis Car Rental

Avis Car Rental is participating in Prime Day deals. Avis is offering up to 30% off car rentals booked through the Amazon Prime Day travel deals page and a gift card worth 10%.

Sixt

Meanwhile, Sixt is offering up to 30% off. Book through this link.

Turo

The Prime Day Turo deal is $30 off your next Turo reservation if you book a trip worth $150 or more. Use code PRIMEDAY30 on bookings made on July 16 or 17.

You might even be able to use this sale to help you decide on where to go. Turo recently unveiled a new “Anywhere” feature that lets you choose a dream rental car first and then narrow down your destination.

Priceline

Some of Priceline’s biggest rental car discounts of the summer are happening now through July 21. Customers can use the code RCWEEK to save up to 20% on top rental car brands. Travelers can also save $15 on rental car express deals of $175 or more booked through the Priceline app.

Best credit cards for Prime Day travel deals

Since most of these travel deals are processed directly through the travel provider — not Amazon — you’re better off using a credit card that earns bonus points on travel purchases (booked outside of the issuer’s travel portal).

Here are some of the best travel credit cards:
