The 10 Best Hotels in Chicago of 2024, According to Travel + Leisure Readers
Chicago offers no shortage of hotels for travelers seeking the ultimate in bespoke experiences. This year, Travel + Leisure readers narrowed down the list of best hotels to properties that speak to the breadth and depth of the Windy City. The hotels below offer a glimpse of Chicago’s luxury, history, and urban panache.
How Voting Works
Every year for our World’s Best Awards survey, T+L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Over 186,000 T+L readers completed the 2024 survey. A total of more than 700,000 votes were cast across over 8,700 properties (hotels, cities, cruise lines, etc.).
Hotels were classified as either resort hotel, city hotel, inn, or safari lodge based on their location and amenities, and they were specifically rated on the criteria below:
- Rooms/facilities
- Location
- Service
- Food
- Value
For each characteristic, respondents could choose a rating of excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor. The final scores are averages of these responses.
What Readers Loved
Readers once again returned to some of last year’s favorites, like the Park Hyatt Chicago (No. 5), and the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago (No. 4), both of which have held their position. Also keeping its rank from last year: the Pendry Chicago (No. 8), a historic property in the 1929-era Carbide and Carbon Building. “Historic charm meets sophisticated elegance,” one reader wrote. Making its debut on this year’s list: Hotel Zachary, Chicago, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel (No. 7), a boutique property right across from Wrigley Field, ideal for the baseball fan in pursuit of luxury accommodations near the game. Heaping upon it the highest praise was one reader, who called it their “favorite hotel in Chicago.”

The Winner
The Langham, Chicago
The Langham, open since 2013, is a 316-room hotel in the last Ludwig Mies van der Rohe-designed office building. In keeping with the original design of the building — it hails from 1971 — The Langham offers mid-century accents in its public spaces and rooms. Some of the property’s standard-bearing features include the Chuan Spa, which specializes in Chinese medicine; Travelle and Pavilion restaurants; and an indoor pool. “Everything at this hotel was exquisite,” raved a recent traveler. “I wish every hotel was this great.” Another T+L reader appreciated the “great mid-century modern decor,” which they said included the rooms. The hotel, they added, was “beautifully repurposed.”
