Texas To Hit Record-Breaking Fourth of July Travel Boom
Get ready for a record-breaking road trip this Fourth of July! According to AAA Texas, we’re about to see the highest travel volume ever.
A whopping 5.6 million Texans are gearing up to hit the road over the holiday week, marking a 5.2% increase from last year. Nationwide, AAA expects over 70 million Americans to venture 50 miles or more from home.
Thanks to the remote work boom, AAA has stretched the travel forecast from five days to nine, covering June 29 through July 7.
Car travel is on the rise, with a 5% increase in Texans driving compared to last year. The good news? Gas prices are expected to be lower than last year, and AAA predicts they’ll stay relatively stable up to Labor Day.
Planning your Texas road trip? Top spots include Galveston, Corpus Christi, the San Antonio River Walk, the Hill Country, and other big cities.
But a heads-up if you need a rental car: they’re in high demand, especially in Dallas. The busiest pick-up days will be June 28, June 29, and the Fourth of July itself.
