A Texas gym lover was tased and arrested at his local Crunch Fitness after he threatened to fight an officer – a day after his membership had been revoked.
David Jones, 40, was thrown out of a Crunch Fitness gym on May 16 after he allegedly punched another member.
He had been barred from entering again after his membership was nullified.
But the next day, Jones returned and began working out. Despite requests by the staff to leave, he refused and continued to stay in the gym.
As a result, deputies from the Amarillo Police Department were called to site for aid in dealing with the situation.
After being informed of the situation, officials began asking Jones to leave but he continued to refuse to comply.
Footage shows Jones using weights to push back the officer as he was being asked to leave.
The officer then takes the weights away before Jones assumes a fighting stance with his hands balled up into fists in the air.
Ultimately, the deputy tases the man, and with the help of gym members, Jones was taken away and arrested.
He has been charge with criminal trespass and resisting arrest.
This comes two months after a Tennessee Sheriff’s Deputy was shot and killed by a man who refused to get out of his car during a traffic stop.
Blount County Sheriff Deputy Greg McCowan, 43, was shot dead after tasing a man who was pulled over for erratic driving on February 8.
McCowan – who is a father and grandfather – and Deputy Shelby Eggers pulled over Kenneth Wayne DeHart Jr. who was driving an SUV in Maryville around 8:30 p.m.
The video shows McCowan using his taser on DeHart, 42, after he refused to comply with the deputies and DeHart is heard screaming and writhing in pain.
While being tased, DeHart slammed his door shut, pointed his gun out the window and shot both officers.
Eggers was shot in the leg and footage shows she attempted to put a tourniquet on herself. McCowan was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
McCowan is survived by his fiancé Leah Lane, two children and one granddaughter. McCowan began his career in law enforcement in 2020 after graduating from a training class and was commended in 2021 for helping save the life of a man trapped in a burning vehicle.
