Taylor Swift Performs Rare Gems ‘Sweeter Than Fiction,’ ‘Mary’s Song’ in Amsterdam

“Bonus points for you if you know the words to this one,” singer said before delivering song from her debut LP

For Taylor Swift’s final Eras Tour date in Amsterdam, Netherlands at Johan Cruijff Arena on Saturday, she dusted off some early gems for her surprise acoustic session at the show. It included “Mary’s Song (Oh My My My)” from her 2006 self-titled debut album, and she also delivered “Sweeter Than Fiction,” her song from the soundtrack of 2013 film One Chance. She had not previously played either song during her Eras Tour run until Saturday.

“It’s a tradition I started on the Eras Tour because I was really trying to challenge myself to play as many songs out of all the albums I’ve done as possible,” she said, explaining the acoustic surprise songs section during her sets and how she performs songs on guitar and then also on piano. “And it’s different every single night,” she added.

“I can’t believe this, but I haven’t played this song yet on the Eras Tour, so that’s fun,” she said to cheers before launching into “Sweeter Than Fiction,” which she mashed up with Red‘s “Holy Ground” while on acoustic guitar.

To introduce the second surprise song, “Mary’s Song (Oh My My My),” she said, “If you know the words from this song that I’m about to do, because it’s from my first album and I’ve never performed it on the Eras Tour, so bonus points for you if you know the words to this one.” She delivered the song as part of a three-way mashup with “So High School” from The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology and Red’s “Everything Has Changed.”
