Syracuse Travels To Tennessee For 2024 SEC/ACC Challenge – Syracuse University Athletics

Syracuse will play at Tennessee on Tuesday, December 3, in the 2024 SEC/ACC Challenge. The event features 15 contests between the two conferences.

The Syracuse-Tennessee Series:

  • Tennessee owns a 4-3 advantage in the all-time series with Syracuse.
  • The Volunteers won the most recent encounter, a 73-56 victory in the 2023 Maui Jim Maui Invitational.
  • Syracuse three wins in the series came consecutively in a run that began with a 93-88 triumph in the 1977 NCAA Tournament.
  • The two teams first met in the 1972 Volunteer Classic. Tennessee won, 87-83.

Syracuse

First-year coach Adrian Autry guided the Orange to a 20-12 record last winter, the program’s first 20-win, regular-season campaign since 2013-14. Syracuse also posted 11 ACC wins, the team’s best showing since its first season in the league (2013-14).

The Orange welcome back returning starters Chris Bell (12.0 ppg., 2.3 rpg.), a forward, and guard J.J. Starling (13.3 ppg., 3.2 rpg.).

Tennessee

The Volunteers were 27-9 and reached the NCAA Tournament’s Elite Eight last season. Tennessee was defeated by eventual NCAA runnerup Purdue. Veteran coach Rick Barnes enters his 38th campaign as a head coach and ninth at Tennessee this fall.
