Survey: U.S. workers are less satisfied with most aspects of their jobs | NewsRadio 740 KTRH

Nearly every aspect of someone’s job is becoming more unsatisfactory for them according to a recent survey.

Nearly 1,700 U.S. adults were surveyed late last year. The job satisfaction survey from the Conference Board found that “overall satisfaction was lowest among those who worked in their current job between 6 months and 3 years.”

Best-selling author and keynote speaker Josh Evans looks at a couple of different factors as to why this is the case. One of them being pay and it’s correlation to someone’s cost of living.

“As inflation continues to rise, I think people are going to become even more unsatisfied,” he said.

According to Evans, a lot of workers aren’t liking where their pay is at, the bonuses that they receive, which may not cover additional costs, and how much vacation time they get.

“Most people feel distracted at work too and that also causes them to be less satisfied,” Evans added.

Younger generations of people are also struggling, not just with the costs of things, but finding a job they enjoy or a job in the first place. Evans said younger folks want to be paid a livable wage and also feel a sense of purpose in their line of work.

“These younger generations see that as an essential within a career and those jobs are difficult to find,” said Evans.

Evans encouraged workers to have the right mindset when entering a career. Sometimes, it’s all about perspective and understanding that the work being done contributes to something bigger than themselves.

“Satisfaction of work comes down to the individual,” Evans said. “If somebody goes in and thinks that they’re not making a difference, they’re not going to be satisfied with their work.”
