Subway and rail service changes: May 31-June 3

This weekend marks the start of a new month, and what a month June is: We’ll be celebrating Pride, Juneteenth, the summer solstice, the T20 Cricket World Cup, the Coney Island Mermaid Parade, the Puerto Rican Day Parade, and more. (This writer is particularly excited for National Hug Your Cat Day on June 4.)

A note for our 14 St riders: The passageway between the ​​​​​ and ​​​ stations is closed this weekend. A free out-of-station street transfer is available using OMNY or MetroCard.

Here’s what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a handy map):

  •  trains aren’t running between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College.
  •  trains aren’t running between Chambers St and New Lots Av.
  •  trains aren’t running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
  •  trains aren’t running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St.
  •  trains aren’t running between 8 Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.
  • Queens-bound ​ and late-night ​ trains are running on the ​ from DeKalb Av to Canal St.
  • Late-night  trains aren’t running between Whitehall St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.

Major subway service changes

 trains, Brooklyn

 trains aren’t running between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College in either direction from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance. 

  • For service between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College, take free B96 shuttle buses, which are making all  stops and an additional stop at Nostrand Av .
  •  trains are running between the Bronx and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and on the  to Crown Heights-Utica Av.

 trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

 trains aren’t running between Chambers St and New Lots Av in either direction all day Saturday and Sunday because of track maintenance.

  • For service between Chambers St and Nevins St, take the .
  • For service between Nevins St and Crown Heights-Utica Av, take  trains.
    • All weekend,  trains are running on the  to Crown Heights-Utica Av and  trains are making local stops between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Crown Heights-Utica Av.
  • For service between Crown Heights-Utica Av and New Lots Av, take the , which is running to New Lots Av all weekend.
  •  trains are running between Harlem-148 St and Chambers St and on the  to Rector St.

 trains, Brooklyn

 trains aren’t running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in either direction from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday because of signal modernization work.

  • For service between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av take free B90 shuttle buses, which are making all  stops.
    • When exiting the subway at Church Av or Coney Island-Stillwell Av, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For direct service between Manhattan/Downtown Brooklyn and Coney Island, take ​​​ trains.
  • For service to W 8 St-NY Aquarium, take the ​.
  •  trains are running between Jamaica-179 St and Church Av.

 trains, Brooklyn and Queens

 trains aren’t running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service between 121 St and Crescent St, free J90 shuttle buses are running between Jamaica Van-Wyck  and Crescent St, making all  stops between 121 St and Crescent St.
    • When exiting the subway at Jamaica-Van Wyck or Crescent St, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For service to/from Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport, take the .
  •  trains are running between Crescent St and Broad St.

 trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

 trains aren’t running between 8 Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs in either direction from 11:15 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of accessibility improvement work.

  • For service in Manhattan, take free L92 shuttle buses or the M14A-SBS, which make all  stops between 8 Av and 1 Av and connect to  trains at Delancey St-Essex St.
  • For service between Bedford Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs, take free shuttle buses, which are running on two routes:
    • Between Lorimer St and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs , making all  stops.
    • A loop bus stopping at Lorimer St, Bedford Av, Marcy Av , Hewes St , and Broadway .
  • When exiting the subway at  stations in Manhattan or at Lorimer St, Marcy Av, Broadway , or Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs , get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, take  trains.
  •  trains are running between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy at all times, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

 trains are extended to 96 St on the  from 8 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to provide additional service between 14 St/6 Av  and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs .

  •  trains are running from Middle Village-Metropolitan Av to 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr, on the  to Lexington Av/63 St, and on the  to 96 St. 

 trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

Queens-bound  and late-night  trains are running on the  from DeKalb Av to Canal St from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural improvement work.

  • For service to/from Jay St-MetroTech and Court St, use nearby Borough Hall .
  • For service to/from stations between Whitehall St and City Hall, use nearby  stations.

Late-night  trains aren’t running between Whitehall St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr in either direction and are making express stops between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St in both directions. This is because of structural improvement work.

  • This service change is in effect from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5:45 a.m. Saturday, 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 5:45 a.m. Sunday, and 11:30 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.
  • For service to/from Whitehall St, Court St, and Jay St-MetroTech, take a Coney Island-bound  train or use nearby  stations.
  • For service to/from DeKalb Av, take  trains.
  • For service to/from local stations between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St, take  trains.
  •  trains are running between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Bay Ridge-95 St.

Other subway service changes

 trains, Manhattan

Uptown  and local  trains are making express stops between Chambers St and 34 St-Penn Station from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a downtown local train.

Downtown  trains aren’t stopping between 145 St and 96 St from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take an uptown train.

Downtown  and  local trains aren’t stopping between 96 St and 72 St from 9:45 a.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take an uptown local train.
  • During the day and evening,  trains are running every 8 minutes and  trains are running every 12 minutes while  trains share tracks in Manhattan.

 trains, the Bronx

Manhattan-bound  trains aren’t stopping between E 180 St and 3 Av-149 St from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a 241 St-bound  or Dyre Av-bound  train.

 trains, Manhattan

Uptown  and  local trains are making express stops from Grand Central-42 St to 125 St from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance. 

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a downtown local train.
  • During the day and evening,  trains are running every 20 minutes and  trains are running every 8 minutes while  trains share tracks in Manhattan.

 trains, the Bronx

Pelham Bay Park-bound  trains aren’t stopping between Hunts Point Av and Parkchester from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.
  • During the day and evening, ​ trains are running every 16 minutes in the Bronx. The last stop for alternate Bronx-bound trains is 3 Av-138 St. Transfer to a Pelham Bay Park-bound train to continue your trip.

 trains, Manhattan

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, downtown  and local  trains are running on the express track from 59 St-Columbus Circle to Canal St and downtown  trains are running on the express track from 42 St/Port Authority Bus Terminal to Canal St. This is because of electrical improvement work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take an uptown train.

 trains, the Bronx and Manhattan

Uptown  trains are making express stops from 145 St and Fordham Rd from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a downtown train.

 trains, Queens

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Manhattan-bound  and local  trains aren’t stopping between Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av and Queens Plaza and Manhattan-bound local  trains aren’t stopping between Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av and 21 St-Queensbridge. This is because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Forest Hills-bound  or Jamaica-bound local  train.

Long Island Rail Road

All branches

Most LIRR trains are running on a modified schedule from 9:30 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday because of switch installation.

  • Ronkonkoma Branch trains are running hourly and all daytime Ronkonkoma Branch trains are running to Penn Station.
    • Transfer at Jamaica for service to Grand Central.
  • Eastbound Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma Branch trains aren’t stopping at Elmont-UBS Arena.
    • For service to/from this station, take a Hempstead Branch train.
  • Daytime Ronkonkoma Branch trains are stopping at Westbury on Saturday for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup attendees.
  • Check TrainTime or Schedules to plan your trip.

Metro-North Railroad service changes

Port Jervis Line

Trains aren’t running between Suffern and Port Jervis from 12:45 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday because of track work and bridge maintenance.

  • Buses connect Ramsey-Route 17 station with all stops between Sloatsburg and Port Jervis.
  • For service to Hoboken and New York from Otisville and Salisbury Mills, consider using nearby Middletown or Harriman stations instead.
    • Only local bus service, which does not connect with trains at Ramsey-Route 17, is available at Otisville and Salisbury Mills.
  • Trains are running between Hoboken and Suffern on a modified schedule with no express trains.
