Sparks School Wins 0,000 Fitness Center

Pinecrest Academy of Northern Nevada in Sparks is one of three schools in Nevada to win a new $100,000 fitness center.

The other two schools in Nevada include Sedway Middle School and Gunderson Middle School in Las Vegas.

The National Foundation for Governors’ Fitness Councils (NFGFC) are gifting fitness centers to school in 40 states this year, with plans to reach all 50 states in the next few years.

“13 years ago, we set out to put fitness centers in every state and today we are realizing our goal by finishing 2024 in New York, Alaska, Hawaii, and the great state of Nevada,” said Jake Steinfeld, chairman of NFGFC. “Three schools really embodied our mission of building a nation of the fittest, healthiest kids in the world.”

The fitness centers are funded through partnerships with various companies and do not rely on state funding or taxpayer dollars.
