Sofia Vergara Revealed Where She’s Had Botox—and Her Future Plastic Surgery Plans

Sofia Vergara is pro plastic surgery—and the Modern Family star isn’t afraid to speak candidly about going under the knife, both in the past and in the future.

“I’m going to do every plastic surgery that I can do when I’m ready,” Vergara told Allure in a recent cover story. “I wish I had more downtime; I would’ve done stuff already. [But] because I’m in front of the camera, it’s not like I can do something and then sit in my house recuperating for weeks.”

As for what Vergara has already had done, she revealed that Botox has been her product of choice. “I’ve been doing Botox for a long time in my neck, [around] my eyes,” she said, adding, “I don’t believe in filler. I feel filler does good when you’re really young and you want a little bit more cheeks or to plump your lips a little bit. At my age—51—I feel it’s not going to make you look younger. It is going to make you look more done.”

The actress, who has been open with her feelings about aging, says people should feel empowered to do whatever makes them feel their best. “I feel like you have to take advantage of everything that is out there,” she said. “I mean, if you care about aging. Nothing wrong if you don’t care about it. It’s not the end of the world. But if you do, now there’s so much stuff out there.”

Vergara has recently been talking about her latest Netflix series, Griselda. In it, she plays title character Griselda Blanco, a Colombian drug lord who in the 1980s rose to prominence in Miami by becoming the “Godmother of Cocaine.” The role was quite the departure for her, she told The Hollywood Reporter, and it simulated use of cigarettes and other substances to embody the role.

“I’ve only done Modern Family, really, so I didn’t know what I was walking into. And when I arrived, I realized this is different, and it’s hard when you have to cry and kill and choke and snort cocaine and drink alcohol,” she explained. “And I’d never in my life touched a cigarette. Never. I had to learn, and to learn at 50 years old to smoke and you’re going to be in every single scene smoking. OK. The first three weeks, I’d go home and I didn’t know what was wrong with me.”

Don’t worry, though, Vergara didn’t actually do those things; credit the magic of Hollywood for making it look intense and very real. “The cocaine that I did was fake! It was not real cocaine. It’s fake cocaine, but I had to pretend,” she previously clarified during her January appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. “The cigarettes are also fake. Everything was, it’s fake. ”
