Sean Kingston was booked in South Florida Sunday after being extradited from California and charged with committing more than $1 million worth of fraud with his mother Janice Turner.

According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Department records, the singer, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, is being held on a $100,000 bond for nine charges related to fraud and grand theft.

Among the charges are one count of organized scheme to defraud over $50,000, four counts of use of impersonation without consent in order to defraud, one count of grand theft greater than $20,000, and two counts of grand theft greater than $100,000. A tenth charge accuses the “Beautiful Girls” singer of violating probation for a previous charge of trafficking stolen property. Kingston also was ordered to hand over his passport.

According to an arrest warrant obtained by Rolling Stone last week, Kingston and his mother are accused of defrauding several businesses, including a jeweler and a car dealer. They face counts of grand theft over a Cadillac Escalade, nearly half a million dollars in jewelry, and a custom bed valued at over $86,000.

According to the warrants, Janice Turner used someone else’s identity to take over $200,000 from Bank of America, and over $100,000 from First Republic Bank. His mom also allegedly passed a bad check worth over $44,000, with Kingston allegedly benefitting from the crime. In 2015, a custom watch seller successfully sued the pair for $356,000 over an unpaid bill, while a New York jeweler was similarly successful in 2018, suing mother and son for $301,000 over nine items (via The Associated Press).

In the past, Kingston has lost several civil suits for not paying off bills, including some for luxury watches and a home entertainment system. Bob Rosenblatt, Kingston’s lawyer, told NBC last month that they wanted to show “this is merely a civil case and not criminal.”

Kingston’s mother Turner is also facing eight charges and was arrested after Kingston’s home was raided by Florida SWAT in late May. (Turner was held on $160,000 bail.) She’s involved in a civil lawsuit, which seeks $100,000 in unpaid rent, and spent time in prison after pleading guilty to bank fraud back in 2006.
