SANKUANZ SS25 “Dancer In The Void” Is Diverse in Style and Culture
Shangguan Zhe’s SANKAUNZ recently took to Paris Fashion Week to reveal its Spring/Summer 2025 “Dancer In The Void” collection where it deepened its love affair for blended, yet abstractly alluring designs.
To orient the latest collection, Zhe looked to Dakinis – meaning “sky dancer” or “sky dweller” – who are female deities in Hinduism and Buddhism. But what intrigued the brand is the Dakini’s polarizing nature which encompasses compassion, destruction, beauty and intimidation. So for the brand’s latest collection, Zhe used these themes and the nature of Dakinis as a means of expanded self-expression.
Coming down the runway, it was clear that tailoring remained a key design feat for the brand. But as opposed to just traditional suits and jackets, Zhe continuously threads his vision of tailoring through fused Western silhouettes and wrapped Asian garment styles. With it, key pieces saw fused jackets and blazers with asymmetrical closures and one-arm cape detailing, sleek and sharpy-lined suit jackets with an Asian twist and an oversized sculptural silk cape jacket.
But even with tailoring leading the way, the collection still leaned into its street-oriented pieces like oversized nylon cargo sets, warped button-down tops with cascading sleeves, baggy denim and camouflage units. Across the wardrobe, Sankaunz remained steady on its practice of balanced designs – carving up garments ready for both the street or an evening gala.
