Samsung launches its first smart ring with AI-powered health and fitness features – Times of India
Samsung’s first smart ring — Galaxy Ring — is here. The new wearable device from the company has been announced alongside the Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra during the Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris.
The company says that the new Galaxy Ring expands the company’s wearable portfolio and puts focus on providing comprehensive wellness experiences using Galaxy AI technology.
Availability
Samsung Galaxy Ring will be available for pre-order in select markets starting July 10, with general availability starting July 24. The Galaxy Ring is available in three colours—Titanium Black, Titanium Silver, and Titanium Gold—and offers nine size options.
Health and fitness features
Samsung has integrated a host of health and fitness features via the Samsung Health app to offer seamless access to health data without a subscription. The Galaxy Ring is designed to deliver health monitoring, tracking, and personalised insights in a compact form factor.
Users can get detailed sleep analysis that includes Sleep score, snoring data and other metrics like movement during sleep, sleep latency, heart rate, and respiratory rate. It weighs between 2.3 to 3.0 grams depending on the size and offers 24/7 health monitoring and features.
The Galaxy Ring comes with 10ATM water resistance and a Titanium Grade 5 finish that’s built to survive harsh conditions. The ring has a claimed battery life of up to seven days and comes with a charging case that includes LED lighting for status indication. It also comes with a temperature sensor that brings a Cycle Tracking feature.
Galaxy Ring also offers detailed health reports generated by Galaxy AI, including an Energy Score, which evaluates physical and mental conditions based on sleep, activity, sleeping heart rate, and heart rate variability.
The Galaxy Ring provides real-time heart health monitoring with Heart Rate Alert, notifying users of unusual heart rates through the Samsung Health app. It includes a Live Heart Rate check for detailed heart rate information. The ring supports active lifestyles with Auto Workout Detection for walking and running and Inactive Alert for daily fitness reminders.
Apart from health and fitness features, Galaxy Ring also includes a double pinch gesture to control several functionalities on the connected Galaxy smartphone like taking photos, alarm dismissal and more.
Galaxy Ring is also equipped with Samsung’s Find My Ring feature that helps locate the ring via the Samsung Find network.
