Rumor Roundup: Ricochet leaving WWE, Joe Hendry hype, Penta unhappiness, more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • For what it’s worth, Dave Meltzer spoke on all the talk of Ricochet leaving WWE, initially saying the situation is “still up in the air” but later chiming in again to note that he was told “a decision has been made” and all signs point to his leaving.
  • Meanwhile, Fightful Select brings word that WWE has been having discussions about how to handle Ricochet creatively to facilitate his departure. One idea is to have Bron Breakker leave him incapacitated.
  • They also say Joe Hendry is one of the names from TNA that NXT talent have openly spoken of hoping to work with.
  • The Wrestling Observer Newsletter says that Penta was unhappy with AEW “some time back” when he “wasn’t allowed on shows with CMLL talent.” They say, however, that those issues seem to have been worked out. Having said that, some have said Penta is trying to buy the rights to his name so he could use it in WWE if he ends up there and there are those who believe he’ll be exploring his options when his contract expires.
  • According to Fightful, Gigi Dolin has a serious knee injury and while she was initially kept on television doing skits to keep her around while hurt she hasn’t been spotted at the Performance Center recently.
