RB target Bo Jackson commits to Ohio State

In early May, Cleveland (Ohio) St. Joseph running back Bo Jackson narrowed his decision down to three schools as he announced his official visits. Jackson said he would make official visits to Georgia from May 17-19, Ohio State from May 31-June 2 and Alabama from June 7-9.

However, after visiting Ohio State this past weekend, Jackson has now committed to the Buckeyes.

“Overall great weekend for me and my family,” Jackson said. “Spending time with coaches (Ryan) Day, (Chip) Kelly (and Carlos) Locklyn were great. “

The 6-foot-1 and 190-pound Jackson plays running back, linebacker and safety for St. Joseph. The Buckeyes are recruiting him as a running back.

Jackson’s commitment is the first commitment for Buckeye running backs coach Carlos Locklyn since Locklyn arrived at Ohio State. Locklyn and the Buckeyes also lead in the Crystal Ball for running backs Jordon Davison and Isaiah West, who still have their official visits to Ohio State to make. Also, Byron Louis and Alabama commitment Anthony Rogers are planning to make official visits to Ohio State.

Jackson’s list of scholarship offers includes his three official visits as well as Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Tennessee, Pitt, Cincinnati, Kentucky and a number of others.

Jackson is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports rankings. He is the country’s No. 85 overall prospect, the No. 3 running back and the No. 5 prospect in Ohio.

Current Ohio State running backs TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins are expected to head to the NFL after this coming season, which would leave the Buckeyes with only two scholarship running backs on the roster the following season in James Peoples and Sam Williams-Dixon, who are true freshmen.

With that in mind, the Buckeyes are looking to sign at least two, if not three, 2025 running backs and they now have their first and it’s a very big one in Jackson.

The Buckeyes now have thirteen class of 2025 commitments.  In addition to Jackson, the Ohio State staff has commitments from Ohio quarterback Tavien St. Clair, New Jersey wide receiver De’Zie Jones, tight end Nate Roberts from Oklahoma, Ohio offensive tackle Carter Lowe, Pennsylvania defensive end Zahir Mathis, Florida defensive end London Merritt, Ohio linebacker Eli Lee, Florida linebacker Tarvos Alford, Texas cornerback Devin Sanchez, Alabama cornerback Na’eem Offord, safety Cody Haddad from Ohio and New Jersey safety Deshawn Stewart.

The Buckeyes also have a great start to their 2026 recruiting class with elite Ohio wide receiver Chris Henry Jr.
