Rafael Marquez sends Barcelona pointed message about Pau Victor

Barcelona Atletic coach Rafa Marquez has had his say on Pau Victor’s future with the striker coming to the end of his loan deal with the club.

Victor has enjoyed a brilliant season for Marquez’s side, scoring 18 goals in 35 games and helping the team all the way to the play-off final.

It’s not clear yet what will happen with Victor. He’s due to return to Girona after Barca failing to activate a buy option in his contract.

Marquez says he told Barcelona that the forward was worth keeping hold of earlier in the season.

“I tried to advise them at the start of the year that this boy had enough potential to acquire him.

“I think we were slow in making an offer, I don’t know if the talks will continue, it’s out of my hands.”

Victor is now due to head back to Girona, although there’s been speculation he could be stay at Barca as part of a deal that sees Oriol Romeu head back to Girona.
