Princess Anne in Hospital With Concussion After “Incident” at Home, Buckingham Palace Says

The Princess Royal, Anne, is in hospital with minor injuries and a concussion following “an incident” at her country home Sunday evening, Buckingham Palace has said.

The Palace released a statement Monday explaining that Princess Anne, the daughter of the late Elizabeth II, remains in Bristol’s Southmead Hospital “as a precautionary measure” and is expected to make a full and swift recovery.

“The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery,” the statement ends. No further details were given on how Anne injured herself at her country estate, Gatcombe Park, or when she will leave the hospital.

It adds to public woes over the Royal Family’s health after the cancer diagnoses of both King Charles and the Princess of Wales earlier this year.

But Kate Middleton attended the 2024 Trooping the Colour, celebrating Charles’ birthday, last Saturday.

She stood on the balcony with her husband, Prince William, and their three children — George, Charlotte and Louis. “I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months,” she wrote on social media before the event. “It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times. I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”

Meanwhile, the King has resumed royal duties through his ongoing cancer treatment. The firm has not specified, in his or Kate’s case, the type of cancer or a timeline for their recovery.
