Pride Month originated in 1999, when President Bill Clinton declared through federal proclamation that every June in America will be recognized as “Gay and Lesbian Pride Month.” “I encourage all Americans to observe this month with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities that celebrate our diversity, and to remember throughout the year the gay and lesbian Americans whose many and varied contributions have enriched our national life,” Clinton said. Pride Month was later expanded by President Barack Obama and President Joe Biden with the additions of other queer identities.
Throughout Pride Month’s iterations, brands have amplified messaging in products and campaigns as a way to celebrate the community’s ongoing advancements toward equality, protections and inclusion. In recent years, brands have also increased their representation of segments within the queer umbrella, including people of color, gender identities and more.

Calvin Klein
Calvin Klein announced its 2024 “This Is Love” Pride campaign starring Cara Delevingne and Jeremy Pope. The collection features rainbow-hued Calvin Klein logos on underwear and shirts as well as two limited-edition shirts created alongside Ilga World and Transgender Law Center.
LGBTQIA+ community impact: In 2024, the brand has committed $240,000 to NGOs dedicated to LGBTQIA+ equity and safety. From June 3 to July 6, Calvin Klein stores will host a register roundup to donate proceeds to ILGA World.

Versace has released a capsule collection featuring rainbow colors from the Progress Pride flag (which celebrates diversity in the queer community) with Versace’s Barocco print, offering a vibrant package of ready-to-wear and accessories. Highlights include Barocco silk shirts and shorts with rainbow borders, shirts, denim blousons, swimwear, underwear and jewelry. The collection is available at select boutiques and Versace.com.
LGBTQIA+ community impact: Versace announced a donation of 10% of the purchase price from every item in their 2024 Pride collection from May 22 to Jan. 31, 2025 to the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which supports programs for HIV prevention, education and support services to people living with or at risk of HIV.

Individual expression is celebrated with Hollister’s 2024 Pride collection, with the message of supporting those who want to be unique and “unapologetically themselves.” The message will be amplified across social channels and in-store, according to the brand. The collection includes six gender-neutral pieces, with prices ranging from $16.95 to $49.95 on hollisterco.com.
LGBTQ+ community impact: Hollister will donate $350,000 to GLSEN, an organization that helps create affirming and safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ students free of bullying and harassment.

Yitty is championing self-love and diversity through the “Keep It Real With Your Body” campaign, the brand’s digital series that will debut June 5 across its social media channels. The series will include messaging from a group of influencers that are contributing to positive social change, according to the shapewear brand.
LGBTQ+ community impact: Yitty is serving as the official sponsor of the 25th annual Trans Pride LA, held June 14-15. The event benefits the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Trans Lounge Program, which provides education and empowerment programs for the trans and gender expansive community.

Adidas is putting the spotlight on inclusivity in sports for a 2024 Pride collection designed in collaboration with Brazilian drag queen and artist Pabllo Vittar. The Love Unites capsule is inspired by body-confidence and proactive allies. Styles include shirts, shorts, track jackets, backpacks, sneakers and more across lifestyle and performance categories available on adidas.com. The campaign stars former Olympic gold medalist Tom Daley, WNBA player Layshia, Stonewall FC London player Jo Kokkinopliti and Athlete Ally founder, Hudson Taylor.
“My aim for the collection was to expand the lens we’re seen through – a color palette that embodies and celebrates the wide spectrum of identities across our community and the culture it influences,” Vittar said in a statement.

Converse’s new Proud to Be collection for 2024 features Western-inspired apparel and shoes that recognize the trailblazing spirit of the queer community. The concept came from the LGBTQIA+ employees and allies at Converse. The styles include the new Run Star utility sandal CX, the Chuck 70 sneaker, companion shirts and more available at Converse.com.
LGBTQ+ community impact: Since 2015, Converse has donated nearly $3 million to philanthropic organizations. This year, Converse’s annual grants are supporting several initiatives that support the queer community, including It Gets Better Project, an organization dedicated to LGBTQ+ youths; the Ali Forney Center, which offers services to homeless LGBTQIA+ youths; and BAGLY (the Boston Alliance of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Youth), which advocates for programs for young queer people; and The Theatre Offensive, an arts program that highlights queer and trans people of color.

Levi’s is offering rodeo glamour for Pride 2024. The brand’s new collection took inspiration from the queer community’s “Rainbow Rodeos” culture that originated in Nevada in the ‘70s. The range, which releases on May 16 online and in select stores, includes tops, bottoms and accessories done with rhinestones, copper thread, marbled hardware, gold-coated denim and more embellishments.
LGBTQIA+ community impact: The Levi’s brand will donate $100,000 to Outright International, an organization dedicated toward advancing human rights for queer people around the world.

Elizabeth Taylor’s legacy as a fierce ally of the queer community continues with the debut of the first-ever Pride collection from House of Taylor, which has been authorized by the icon’s official estate. In honor of Pride month, Teva will launch its Adventure with Pride collection featuring colorful iterations of the brand’s classic, all-gender footwear styles. The collection will include the Hurricane XLT2 Ampsole Brite sandal ($90) in both a rainbow and pink/blue colorway, as well as the Original Universal Rainbow sandal ($65) featuring a black base and multi-colored strap. The sandals are available on May 29 on teva.com.
LGBTQ+ community impact: For the second year in a row, Teva will donate $20,000 to one•n•ten’s Camp OUTdoors program, developed to inspire all LGBTQ+ youth to embrace who they are and be empowered to lead.

Dockers collaborated with artist Rawley Clark on its new Pride collection, which features five gender-inclusive styles inspired by love, community and growth. Clark, whose artwork manifests the intersections of queer identify and Black womanhood, used whimsical graphics that nod to nature, the relationship between humans and Earth and the cycle of inspiration for Black creatives. The designs are done in an ombre palette that’s incorporated on T-shirts, a tank top, and pull-on shorts. Meanwhile, a lilac T-shirt features the Dockers logo designed in the Pride Progress Flag colors, which celebrate diversity in the queer community.
“With our longstanding support of the LGBTQIA+ community and our love for our hometown, it only made sense to be able to feature an artist like Rawley,” said Nic Rendic, global creative director at Dockers. “Tenderness, love, community, and support is something we all deserve each and every day, and Rawley’s work is the perfect expression of that.”
The collection, which marks the brand’s ninth consecutive year of Pride releases, debuted on May 15 with prices ranging from $28 to $70 on dockers.com.

Ugg partnered with comedian and author Alok Vaid-Menon to co-create the new URSeen collection for Pride 2024, celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community. To promote the neon-filled collection, Ugg created a campaign featuring some of Vaid-Menon’s friends, including B3ntl3y, Alyx Liu and Chrissy Etienne. The all-gender collection features the URSeen Platform shoe ($180) and the asymmetrical faux-fur URSeen Dress ($125), designed to embrace the creativity, adaptability, and confidence of the LGBTQ+ community. Both come in neon green or pink designs on ugg.com and select retail stores. “My childhood was about hiding myself, having to cover up, disappear, to not draw attention to myself,” Alok said in a statement. “So, so much of what I was trying to do in this collection with Ugg is to take something audacious like courage and put it into a platform shoe and bodycon dress, so that when people are feeling a little timid, putting on these pieces can actually give you that sense of power.”

Equinox has partnered with Camp Felix Pride, an organization that supports LGBTQ+ youths, to spotlight the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ experience with an exhibition featuring artwork by Marina Abramović, Sir Isaac Julien, David LaChapelle, Steven Klein and more. The “Between Us: The Disappearance of the Binary” exhibit, curated by artistic director Shai Baitel, will be on display at The Auction Collective, with a benefit auction running from June 18 to July 2 in support of the Felix Organization’s LGBTQ+ youth initiatives. There will also be a public viewing at the High Line Nine in New York from June 26 to June 30.

Macy’s is celebrating Pride month with a robust lineup of programs. The retailer is holding an in-store and online donation to benefit The Trevor Project and its initiatives for LGBTQ+ youths. In addition, Macy’s joins its fellow Macy’s Inc. nameplates Bloomingdale’s and Bluemercury in putting queer-owned brands in the spotlight through sharing brand stories via digital activations. On Thursday, Macy’s Live will debut an episode of LiveStyle dedicated toward sharing stories behind LGBTQ+-owned, founded and designed products.

Thaddeus Coates created the cover’s artwork. The collaboration supports Urban Decay’s “Moments That Move Us” initiative, which aims to support artists.
LGBTQIA+ community impact: Urban Decay will support the Stonewall Community Foundation with $50 for each purchase of the record and the brand’s total donation of $50,000. The SCF organization is dedicated to supporting social advancements in the LGBTQ+ community, including queer liberation, racial and economic justice issues.
