Planet Fitness celebrated the grand opening of its newest location in Corona on Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 97-01 Northern Blvd.
Local elected officials and community leaders, including NYS Senator Jessica Ramos (D-13), joined staff at the event to welcome the community to the “judgment-free zone.”
The new 13,500-square-foot facility features cardio machines, strength equipment, flat-screen televisions, locker rooms and in-house showers for gym members.
Ramos shared that she was pleased to see a new, health-conscious business in Corona. “We are always happy to welcome more affordable options for my neighbors to get fit and healthy and new partners willing to invest in the well-being of our community,” she said.
Tom Grech, president of the Queens Chamber of Commerce, congratulated the staff on the opening, noting that the new location will provide community members with affordable workout options and improve the quality of life in the neighborhood.
To celebrate the grand opening, Planet Fitness is donating $1,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Queens. “On behalf of the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Queens, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Planet Fitness for their generous donation,” said Vanessa Carter, the organization’s development coordinator. Carter emphasized that the donation will be instrumental in helping the organization continue its mission of supporting young people in the local community.
The new facility is open and staffed Monday through Thursday from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., Fridays from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. For more information or to join online, visit www.PlanetFitness.com
