Gucci has unveiled a new exhibition in Bangkok, celebrating the fashion house’s legacy of game-changing style. Guests at the Gucci Visions exhibit can walk through the brand’s 103-year history, immersing themselves in its most essential moments and designs.
Following successful instalments in Florence and Tokyo, Gucci Visions has now set up at Bangkok’s EmSphere mall, where it’s being attended by the globe-trotting sartorial elite.
One such person is the enviably stylish Petra Mackova, better known as ‘pepamack’ to her nearly one million Instagram followers.
To celebrate Gucci Visions, we sat down with Petra to chat all things Gucci and style in 2024.
ELLE Australia: Tell us about your experience stepping into the world of Gucci at Gucci Visions?
Petra Mackova: I loved stepping into the world of Gucci Visions – seeing the rich history of Gucci’s creations mixed with the modern visual effects was incredible.
Which was your favourite exhibition room at Gucci Visions?
The ‘Icons’ room was my favourite. It featured mirrored shelves that displayed over 200 iconic Gucci handbags like the Horsebit 1955, Jackie 1961 and Bamboo 1947. Somehow it reminded me of a vintage handbag store in Tokyo – very cool.
What is your favourite look from the new Gucci Pre-Fall 24 collection?
My favourite look was the black tweed set I wore from Gucci Pre-Fall 24. I loved the cropped jacket with gold buttons paired with a pencil skirt, it was so chic.
What do you love about Gucci’s new direction under Sabato de Sarno?
It’s an evolution. I find Sabato de Sarno’s vision very feminine and sophisticated. I love how all pieces can be easily paired with my own wardrobe; elegant and contemporary with tones of minimalism.
Which were your favourite pieces from his very first SS ’24 collection?
The timeless Gucci Jackie bag remains a staple, and I really enjoy how Gucci is featuring updated hardware including crystals and bold colours of Ancora red, neon yellow and green. My favourite ready to wear pieces from Sabato’s first SS 24 collection were the oversized jeans and boxy leather jackets.
How do you balance sex appeal and cool factor in your own wardrobe?
To be honest, I don’t think about it much. It’s more about a confident mindset to me – what is sexy to me is a woman with confidence. Fashion is a great opportunity to express ourselves and feel powerful.
What are some silhouettes/colours you’re personally loving lately?
Lately, I’ve been incorporating more vintage and archival pieces into my wardrobe. I’m loving fitted long sleeve polo tops, super mini skirts/skorts and mid heel pumps.
How do you style new pieces from Gucci Pre-Fall 24 in your own day-to-day dressing?
I have a new pair of Gucci Signoria pumps and a mini Jackie Notte handbag in Ancora red which have been very refreshing to my wardrobe because I usually wear neutrals. I feel like incorporating bold accessories like the Gucci Marmont Multi-pocket bag and Horsebit 1955 top handle bag can elevate any basic look.
What makes you feel good when it comes to clothes?
When I dress comfortably and feel at ease in my own skin. I always pay attention to beautifully fitted cuts and good quality fabrics.
What did you love most about Bangkok city?
Bangkok is my one of my favourite cities in Asia. It’s modern, bustling, yet rich with culture and tradition. The food is so vibrant and diverse, especially the amazing street food. Thai people are very kind, and overall the city is feels safe and clean.
