Pakistan waiting for update on young fast bowlers’ fitness – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is eagerly awaiting updates on the fitness of four promising young fast bowlers, who are seen as potential candidates to represent the national team across various formats.

These bowlers, namely Ihsanullah, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Arshad Iqbal, and Zeeshan Zameer, are currently undergoing rehabilitation or awaiting surgeries to address their injury concerns.

To ensure the best possible care for these players, the PCB has appointed a medical panel consisting of Prof Rana Dilawaiz Nadeem, Dr. Mumraiz Naqshband, and Prof Javed Akram. This panel will closely monitor and oversee the rehabilitation and recovery treatments of the injured bowlers.

Arshad Iqbal and Zeeshan Zameer have been sidelined due to knee injuries, and the PCB has recommended that they be sent to the Aspetar Institute in Qatar for further evaluation and treatment.

Iqbal is scheduled to undergo an examination at the institute in the near future, while Zameer is set to have surgery in Qatar next week, following a thorough review of his medical reports earlier this month.

Ihsanullah, who made his international debut in white-ball formats last year, has undergone two elbow surgeries in Faisalabad and Lahore. After completing the initial phase of his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore, he is currently back home in Swat, where he continues his recovery process under the guidance of a PCB-approved physiotherapist.

Mohammad Wasim Jr, who missed out on selection for the T20 World Cup due to a back-related issue, is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA. However, he still requires more time to achieve a full recovery.
