Padres-Braves ppd.; split doubleheader on Monday
ATLANTA — Instead of playing one game on Monday, the Braves and Padres will now play two.
Heavy rain forced Saturday night’s game to be postponed and rescheduled as part of a split doubleheader on Monday. The first game Monday will begin at 12:20 p.m. ET, and first pitch for the second game is scheduled for 6:20 p.m. ET. Truist Park will be cleared between games.
Saturday’s scheduled starters, Braves right-hander Bryce Elder and Padres right-hander Yu Darvish, will now start Sunday’s game. First pitch remains scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET.
Reynaldo López will start Monday’s first game for the Braves and Chris Sale will start the nightcap. Dylan Cease and Randy Vásquez will serve as San Diego’s starters during the twin bill. The team hasn’t announced which pitcher will start which game.
Braves catcher Travis d’Arnaud likely will be ready to start one of Monday’s games. The veteran exited Friday’s game after taking a foul ball off his mask. The team wanted to avoid using him on Saturday and Sunday.
