Outdoor fitness court coming to Herkimer. Here are the opening details

An outdoor fitness court is coming to Herkimer, organizers recently announced in a statement.

MVP Health Care, the town of Herkimer and National Fitness Campaign (NFC) made the announcement Saturday.

The Fitness Court Studio, located at 154 Pine Grove Road, will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 13 with demonstrations, a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. and a friendly competition between area police and firefighters taking place at 11:30 a.m.

The MVP Health Care Fitness Court Studio will provide the community with increased access to outdoor exercise programs, organizers said. The goal of the court is to expand free access to high quality workouts and create equitable access to exercise for communities around the state.

“We are excited to unveil the Fitness Court Studio to our community,” said Town of Herkimer Supervisor Dominic Frank in a statement.

“It greatly enhances the town park’s offerings and provides opportunities to exercise and recreation, helping to improve the health, fitness and wellness of the Town’s residents and residents of our area. We are thankful to MVP Health Care and National Fitness Campaign for their help to bring this resource to our community.”

About the court

The court features two workout areas separated by a mural wall featuring scenic photography of the town of Herkimer to showcase the setting and to inspire people as they enjoy the benefits and energy created by a great outdoor workout.

The Fitness Court Studio delivers the powerful seven-minute full body workout on one side and a versatile outdoor class area for enjoying yoga, Zumba, Pilates and other popular group wellness activities on the opposite side.

Created with people aged 14 and over and with all abilities in mind, the workouts are adaptable for all fitness levels, allowing participants to move at their own pace. Users also may download the free Fitness Court App which acts as a coach-in-your-pocket and enhances the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness experience.

“The launch of the MVP Health Care Fitness Court Studio in Herkimer is a step towards  providing access to resources that can change the trajectory of someone’s health and wellness journey,” said MVP Health Care’s president and chief executive officer, Chris Del Vecchio, in a statement.

“As a leading health care services company, investing in our local communities and offering new, innovative wellness options like the Fitness Court Studio reinforces our commitment to giving back to the people we serve and places we call home. We are proud to partner with NFC and the Town of Herkimer to bring this unique opportunity to the local community and look forward to seeing you on the Fitness Court Studio.”
