OSU Outdoor Track & Field Travels to Arkansas for NCAA West Prelims – Oklahoma State University Athletics

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State outdoor track & field heads to Fayetteville, Ark., for the NCAA West Preliminary rounds from May 22-25.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls continue postseason play amid one of the best combined seasons in program history. OSU Track & Field and Cross Country has placed each of its four teams thus far in the top 10 overall, with the men’s cross country team earning the program’s fifth NCAA title in November. Cowgirl cross country also earned its first NCAA trophy with their third-place finish. Cowboy and Cowgirl indoor track placed seventh and eighth at the NCAA Championships, respectively.

The momentum has continued to the outdoor season, with each team being ranked inside the top 15 in the same week for just the second time in program history during the week of April 16. Entering the regional meet, the Cowboys and Cowgirls are ranked No. 13 and No. 20, respectively.

Overall, OSU qualified a combined 32 individual athletes in addition to the men’s 4×400 Meter Relay squad. The top 48 athletes in each individual event qualified for West Prelims with the top 12 individuals and relays from each of the two regions advancing to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., in June. In addition to the preliminary qualifiers, Bailey Golden and Olivija Vaitaityte have also already qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the Heptathlon as two of the 24 scoring athletes in the event this season.

Action kicks off Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT with Blair Anderson in the men’s Long Jump as the men and women will alternate competition days. The men will compete Wednesday and Friday, with the women on Thursday and Saturday, wrapping up with 2022 NCAA indoor 3K champion Taylor Roe and Victoria Lagat in the women’s 5,000 Meters.

The entirety of the NCAA West Preliminary rounds will be streamed live on ESPN+ and live results for the meet can be found here.
