The latest data from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) indicated that the recent Independence Day holiday was one of the busiest summer travel times on record. This surge in travel also reflected at Orlando International Airport (MCO), which saw record-breaking numbers during the holiday period.

Over the nine-day holiday stretch, MCO surpassed its previous records for the Fourth of July, with departures topping 707,000. Although it didn’t surpass the airport’s all-time high set during Spring Break, this year’s Fourth of July marked the busiest in its history for this particular holiday, totaling about 1.5 million travelers.

Orlando International Airport is committed to enhancing connectivity and ensuring efficient service as part of its strategic focus on improving connections. As the summer progresses, travelers are encouraged to utilize various airport amenities to help streamline their travel experience.

The airport’s recent “Kickoff to Takeoff” initiative offers practical tips to travelers, which include:

  • Booking parking in advance
  • Arriving early
  • Using the MCO mobile app
  • Opting for MCO Reserve services

The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority proudly manages both Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Orlando Executive Airport (ORL), key hubs for air travel in Florida. MCO, a global hub, accommodates over 57 million passengers yearly through its three terminals—A, B, and C. Terminal C, linked to a high-speed passenger rail at the Intermodal Terminal Facility, features innovative customer service enhancements including fully automated TSA screening lanes. ORL, located just a few miles from downtown Orlando, offers crucial general aviation services to the area.
