Original Buc-ee’s travel center heavily damaged in fire
LULING, Texas (KXAN) — Authorities said a fire broke out Monday morning at the original Buc-ee’s travel center in Luling.
Units from 14 agencies responded to help put out the fire. Emergency officials posted photos showing the building heavily damaged.
According to the Caldwell County Office of Emergency Management, the structure fire occurred in the area of Interstate 10 and Highway 183.
The Southeast Caldwell County VFD said it was called to help with the fire and confirmed it was at the old Buc-ee’s location. According to the company, the old Buc-ee’s building was opened in 2003 and was the first Buc-ee’s travel center for the brand.
Just last month, a new Buc-ee’s travel center opened in Luling in the same area, replacing the old location. This confused some on social media.
“Despite the sign and some information you may have seen, the fire is NOT the new Buc-ee’s travel stop,” the Caldwell County OEM clarified.
The new location is currently the largest Buc-ee’s in the country.
Officials said the fire was put out quickly. There is no word yet on what started the fire.
