One dead, one injured after shooting outside Prince George’s Co. high school hosting vigil

A man is dead and a woman is injured after a shooting Friday night outside of a high school in Upper Marlboro, according to Prince George’s County police.

Officers said they were at Wise High School in the 12600 block of Brooke Lane earlier in the evening for a vigil for three athletes who died in a crash last week.

Shortly after leaving the vigil, officers heard shots and quickly turned around to respond to the scene around 10 p.m.

Once on the scene, officers were flagged down by citizens performing life-saving measures on a woman who was suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers also found a man on the scene suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both were taken to a hospital where the man was pronounced dead. The woman’s injuries are considered non-life-threatening, officials said.

A gun was recovered outside, according to officers.

The vigil was being held for Kyhree Jackson, Anthony Lytton, Jr. and Isaiah Hazel who all played football together at the high school.
