Ohio wine industry booming, supplying 40K+ jobs: Tourism report
(WKBN) — The wine industry in Ohio is thriving, contributing to tens of thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in economic activity, according to a recent tourism report.
According to a release compiled by the Ohio Department of Development, Ohio ranks 7th in the nation for wine economic output, generating around $6.6 billion annually.
There are more than 400 wineries in Ohio, contributing to around 40,300 jobs and $1.9 billion in wages. The majority of wineries are located in Ashtabula and Lake County, but there are plenty of options right here in the Valley, including the Vineyards at Pine Lake and L’uva Bella Winery.
Ohio winemakers produce upwards of 1.2 million gallons of wine annually, enough to fill roughly 30,000 bathtubs, according to the release.
