OASD hosts job fairs to fill current staff vacancies; blood and platelet donors needed


Here’s the latest news in brief.

OSHKOSH – Oshkosh Area School District will host two job fairs to fill several staff openings throughout the district. Fairs will be 4-6 p.m. July 18 and Aug. 1 at the Administration Office, 215 S. Eagle St.

Applicants can meet with HR staff, principals and others to learn about current positions with immediate start dates. Registration is not required.

Open positions include certified elementary, middle and high school teachers; specialist teachers; special education teachers; school counselors; substitutes; paraprofessionals/teacher assistants; special education paraprofessionals/teacher assistants; clerical; food service; custodial; maintenance; and more. Part-time and full-time positions are available that include benefits and summers off.

Blood and platelet donors needed to keep up supply

Blood and platelet donations continue to be needed over the summer by the American Red Cross. All blood types are needed, especially those with type O blood and platelets.

A news release said more than a quarter of all blood products each year are used in critical care and emergency room cases.

A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals 17 years old in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in general good health may be eligible to donate.

Upcoming local blood drives:

  • July 15: 1 to 6 p.m., Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1140 Tullar Road, Neenah;
  • July 17: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Omro Community Center, 1005 E. Main St.;
  • July 17: 1 to 6 p.m., YMCA Downtown, 324 Washington Ave., Oshkosh;
  • July 22: Noon to 5 p.m., Double Tree by Hilton Neenah, 123 E. Wisconsin Ave.; and
  • July 26: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., UW Oshkosh Reeve Union, 748 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh.
