NVIDIA Allocates Additional GeForce RTX GPU Supply To China Ahead of 618 Shopping Festival
NVIDIA is allocating an additional supply of its GeForce RTX GPU to China ahead of the 618 shopping extravaganza.
NVIDIA Increases GeForce RTX GPU Supply By 30% For China Ahead of 618 Festival, Vast Discounts Expected
With just a month left in the annual Chinese 618 shopping festival, NVIDIA and its AIB partners are gearing up to allocate an additional supply of GeForce RTX GPUs in the region. The report comes from Chinese board channels where it is estimated that manufacturers will increase the supply of these GPUs by 30%.
So what is the 618 online shopping festival? It is the anniversary of JD.com, the 2nd largest Chinese online retailer. But rather than the retailer celebrating its anniversary, other retailers also do online discounts and promotions on the same day which include stores such as Alibaba and TMall.
The additional allocation from NVIDIA and its partners will make sure that there’s enough supply for potential buyers of the latest GeForce RTX GPUs. Currently, almost the entirety of NVIDIA’s RTX 40 GPU family is discounted in China (minus the RTX 4090/D). The new SUPER family has also seen some discounts but we can expect even bigger ones when the increased supply enters the market.
As of right now, NVIDIA is certainly more focused on its Data Center GPUs which make up the bulk of its revenue. The company allocated production priorities in that segment leading to noticeable supply issues in certain regions but the company has now opened up some of its production for its gaming segment again leading to better overall availability.
NVIDIA also recently stated that it will shift to a yearly cadence for its GPU roadmap which means we can expect to see new updates on the various segments much sooner than before. The 618 event begins on the 18th of June but we can expect some discounts ahead of the festival itself so stay tuned.
