No announcement from CM Punk

WWE promised CM Punk would make his return to Friday Night SmackDown in Chicago at the Allstate Arena this week and we didn’t have to wait long to see him do exactly that, as he opened the show to a thunderous ovation. The way he was running all around the arena, hugging and hanging out with fans, it sure seemed like he was going to have some good news to share.

Instead, he took the opportunity to run down Drew McIntyre for quitting the company. He said he was going to run him into the ground, and it was even easier than he thought it would be!

Then Paul Heyman showed up.

What followed was a compelling segment with Heyman acting as messenger, telling Punk to skip town because Solo Sikoa wanted to call Chicago his own now that he’s the Head of the Table and all that. The Bloodline hit the scene, threats were made, and then WWE Champion Cody Rhodes showed up to issue a challenge for a match with Sikoa.

Lost in all this is the sad reality that Punk did not, in fact, announce that he is cleared to wrestle just yet.
