NFL insider hints at Aaron Rodgers’ location amid Jets absence: ‘Open your mind’
NFL insider Albert Breer seems to know where Aaron Rodgers disappeared to white dodging the Jets’ mandatory two-day minicamp this week.
“The best I can answer this right now that I feel solid about is that he is somewhere that they could not excuse and maintain credibility with the rest of the locker room, but would be expected, would not be an out-of-left-field thing for him,” Breer said about Rodgers’ unspecified whereabouts. “So you guys can open your mind, so to speak, as he’s been known to open his mind sometimes, into all the possibilities.”
Robert Saleh described Rodgers’ whereabouts as an event that was “very important to him.”
NFL insiders speculate he’s at an ayahuasca retreat in South America or Europe.
Though the location of the four-time regular-season MVP has not been confirmed, his neighbors in Cedar Grove are on the hunt, comparing him to a scantily seen fictional creature.
“He’s the Sasquatch of Cedar Grove!” quipped Dave Fletcher, who owns Cedar Beans Coffee Joint on Pompton Avenue, a Hail Mary pass from Rodgers’ $9.5 million glass mansion. “Who are you more likely to capture on film in Cedar Grove?”
Colin Cowherd from FS1 and The Athletic’s Dianna Russini both confirmed Rodgers was on an overseas vacation.
Russini added that the quarterback “didn’t want to reschedule [the vacation] around the Jets’ practices.”
Multiple of his Jets teammates such as Breece Hall, D.J. Reed and Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner have defended Rodgers’ absence.
“Are y’all really making a big deal because a 15+ year HOF QB missed 2 days of practice after being with the team all throughout Phase 1, 2, & 3 of OTA’s?? GG’s,” Gardner posted on X on Wednesday night.
Still, the team will reportedly fine Rodgers for missing the minicamp.
“They communicated to him that they wouldn’t be able to excuse him for that, and again, it’s because that’s how you maintain credibility with your locker room,” Breer said about how the Jets are handling Rodgers’ decision to skip minicamp. “You can’t do something for one person that you wouldn’t do for other stars of the team, let alone, like, guys on down the roster, right?”
