Netflix releases trailer, premiere date for ‘Receiver’ featuring Amon-Ra St. Brown
On Thursday, Netflix announced the premiere date for their new NFL series “Receiver”, featuring Detroit Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown, which will be available to subscribers on July 10, 2024.
In 2022, the Detroit Lions had a plethora of NFL Films crews around Allen Park/Ford Field as the team was featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks.” In 2023, some of those same camera crews were back in at the Lions facilities once again filming on site. Not much was thought of their presence, as the Lions were rapidly growing in popularity, but when the crews stuck around during the regular season, it was clear there was something in the works.
After some digging by Justin Rogers of the Detroit News, it was reported that St. Brown would be one of five players to be featured on the series to be modeled after Netflix’s previous series “Quarterbacks.” Joining St. Brown would be Davante Adams of the Raiders, Justin Jefferson of the Vikings, as well as George Kittle and Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers.
The documentary series will follow each of the five individuals on and off the field, diving into what it is like for them in their profession as well as their family life. Because the Lions played the Raiders, Vikings (twice), and 49ers in the NFC Championship game, there is sure to be a heavy amount of the Sun God for Lions fans in this series.
