National French Fry Day 2024: How to score freebies and deals at McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King and more

It’s Friday — and it’s fry day.

For the uninitiated, today, July 12 is National French Fry Day, meaning you’ll be able to score some serious deals on the salty treats at your favorite fast food franchise.

The annual event previously occurred on July 13 every year, but it now falls on the second Friday every July.

The change occurred in 2022 after fast-food chain Checkers and Rally’s put together an online petition to get the National Day Calendar to move the date.

Now, the fry day is always on a Friday, so you can kick off your weekend with the indulgence.

Luckily, there are deals and freebies available at McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s and more.

McDonald’s

When you download the McDonald’s app, you’ll get a deal for a free order of medium fries with any purchase of $1 or more on Friday, July 12, and every subsequent Friday through Dec. 27, 2024.

Additionally, on Saturday, July 13, McDonald’s is giving away any size order of fries for free, no purchase necessary, in the McDonald’s app.

Burger King

Members of Burger King’s Royal Perks loyalty program can get a free order of any size fries with a purchase of $1 or more on National French Fry Day – as well as every Friday for the rest of the year.

Also on Friday, July 12, Royal Perks members can snag a free hamburger with a purchase of $1 or more.

Wendy’s

Get a free order of any size fries with a purchase at Wendy’s on any Friday all year long — but especially on this FRY-day.

The deal first dropped back in April and can be redeemed in the Wendy’s app every week.

Checkers and Rally’s

Checkers and Rally’s — the ones who ensured National French Fry Day is always on a Friday — is celebrating by offering a free regular size Fully Loaded Fries with any purchase in the Rewards app starting today through Sunday, July 14.

Fans must be a member of the Checkers & Rally’s Rewards Program to get the app-based offer.

Arby’s

In honor of National French Fry Day, starting today, Arby’s is offering $1 any size fry all month long for Arby’s Rewards members.

The chain has also officially brought back the fan-favorite Potato Cakes to the menu for a limited time. Potato lovers who want their day to be even more potato-licious can enjoy this popular side item.

KFC

If you’re a KFC Rewards member, you can enjoy an order of free Secret Recipe fries of any size with any online portion.

And purchasing these fries are for good, as a portion of KFC’s Secret Recipe Fries support the KFC Foundation, which focuses on education accessibility, financial & hardship assistance, and community giving.

Taco Bell

Craving nacho fries? From now through Monday, July 15, fans can join the Taco Bell Rewards loyalty program and buy a Nacho Fries Lover’s Pass for just $10.

The pass gets you a regular size order of Nacho Fries every day for the next 30 days in the Taco Bell app.

16 Handles

If you’re a fan of dipping your fries in ice cream, you’re in luck.

Fro-yo chain 16 Handles — yes, you read that right — has a salty new flavor: French Fry frozen yogurt, a bright yellow soft serve that tastes like fries and has real potato french fry pieces mixed in.

The national frozen dessert brand is also offering a French Fry Day deal on their limited-time frozen yogurt flavor. All new customers can get $5 off in-store using the code FRENCHFRY on the 16 Handles app.

Want to participate in the Fry-day holiday but looking out for your heart health? No fret.

Fans get snag free Classic Olive Oil Fries with any purchase in-store or online at Elevation Burger through July 14 with the code “FRY-YAY.”

The Last Great Hamburger Stand is offering deals on not one, but two of their iconic fry options.

Through July 14, guests can get a free Fat Fries or Skinny Fries with any purchase in-store at participating locations or online using the code “FRYDAY24.”

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers

Freddy’s is giving out free fries to celebrate National French Fry Day.

Customers who download the Freddy’s app today, July 12, will receive a free regular fries with any purchase on July 13 and 14. The offer must be redeemed on the app.

Jack in the Box

Jack Pack rewards members can get a free order of any size or style fries with a $1 purchase in-store or on the app today — and every Friday the rest of 2024.

McCain Foods

McCain Foods is celebrating this holiday by unveiling the World’s First French Fry house.

The company has fried out a two-story house in Chicago, decorating it with all things fry themed, such as giant French fry inflatables, holiday lights, trees and shrubbery donned in themed ornaments and more.

On Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13, fry fans can head over to 224 N Elmwood Ave, Oak Park, IL 60302 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. both nights for free french fries for all visitors, a meet and greet with Father Frymas, hourly French fry sing-alongs and more.
