Naomi Campbell was the guest of honor at the Victoria and Albert Museum’s annual Summer Party, which this year celebrates the upcoming exhibit “Naomi: In Fashion,” slated to open June 22. Dressed in white from head to toe, Campbell wore peep toe stilettos to elevate her ensemble at the June 19 fête in London.
The “Naomi: In Fashion” exhibit, on display in South Kensington, examines the career of the iconic fashion model. “Through the work of leading global designers and photographers we celebrate her creative collaborations, activism and far-reaching cultural impact,” the V&A describes it. Among the items on display are the famous 12-inch Vivienne Westwood platforms that Campbell wore on the runway in 1993.
For the event in her honor, Campbell arrived in a floor-length white halter gown that featured a plunging V-neck and skirt slit that began around the mid-thigh. The dress cinched at the waist while layers of fabric lent dimension and variation to the design. Campbell complemented the dress with white sunglasses and silver jewelry, including layered bangles and a sparkling snake necklace that wrapped around her neck.
Campbell slipped into a tall pair of white stilettos to match her crisply colored dress. The peep-toe shoes featured a thick curved strap across the toes that just barely revealed her red nail polish. The back of the heel was enclosed around the ankle while a slender heel offered the model several extra inches of height.
Among the attendees were other buzzy names from the fashion world, including stylist Law Roach, who posed alongside Campbell at the event.
Long before there was an exhibition celebrating her, Campbell solidified her status as a style icon — and she’s always demonstrated a passion for footwear. Before the V&A Summer Party, she celebrated the opening of the “Naomi” exhibit wearing sneakers she designed in partnership with Hugo Boss — again part of an all-white ensemble. She swung in the opposite direction of the color spectrum when she wore black pointed pumps with a black gown on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this season.
