“Mt. Vernon was rather lucky”: Mayor Loehr speaks about tornado damages

MOUNT VERNON, Ind. (WEHT) – Following damaging severe weather in the Tri-State on Tuesday, an officer with the Mount Vernon Police Department has confirmed to Eyewitness News that a shopping center near Plaza Drive.
Mt. Vernon Mayor Steven Loehr says that no major injuries were reported, and the damage would have been “much worse” if the storm had been a quarter mile west. He also says crews did a good job responding to the situation.
Authorities were asking people to avoid Highway 62 in this area as crews worked to turn off the gas lines in the area.
Mayor Loehr also says the shopping center will be shut down until further notice.
