Mindy Kaling Reveals She Quietly Welcomed Her Third Baby
Congratulations are in order for Mindy Kaling.
Kaling quietly welcomed her third child earlier this year, she announced on social media Monday.
“In late February I gave birth to my daughter, Anne. She’s the best birthday present I could’ve ever imagined,” Kaling, who celebrates her 45th birthday on Monday, wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her newborn with her two children. She also shared a photo that featured her baby bump and an image of her in a hospital bed alongside her two older kids.
“When things are hard, whenever I veer towards cynicism, my three kids are such a great reminder of the pure joy in my life. I’m so lucky I live in a place where I could do this by myself, on my own timeline. Thanks for all the birthday wishes,” she continued.
Kaling is already a mom to a 6-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son. Kaling has never revealed the identity of the father of her children and has a habit of surprisingly revealing her happy baby news to the public.
In 2017, Kaling made the first surprise pregnancy reveal when she announced she was expecting her first child in an interview with Sunday Today. “It’s so unknown to me. I have a lot of control over a lot of aspects of my life, and this is one where I’m like, ‘OK, it’s out of my hands,’ which is kind of a fun feeling,” she said at the time.
Kaling later dropped another surprise reveal in 2020 when she shared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert that she had welcomed her second child. “I’m telling it for the first time now, it feels so strange. But I gave birth to a baby boy on Sept. 3. This is news to a lot of people. It’s true!” Kaling said at the time. “His name is Spencer. I forgot the most important part of it.” The actor-writer-producer said that she was able to keep her second pregnancy largely secret because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While on The Jennifer Hudson Show in May, Kaling talked about her kids and revealed that she could see her daughter following in her footsteps in the industry. “She did a little bit of musical theater and liked it, but again, wanted to be the star of the production and wasn’t, and thus, kind of lost interest,” she said. Meanwhile, she said her son is “a little bit more shy.”
