Mexican woman formerly employed by Trump condemns ex-president’s ‘Hispanic jobs’ comment

Donald Trump on Saturday was called out on his “Hispanic jobs” comments by a Mexican woman who used to work for him.

Trump has recently been in hot water after attempting to woo minority groups by arguing that illegal immigrants are coming to the U.S. and taking “Black jobs” and “Hispanic jobs.” His comments left people wondering whether the former president was implying that Black and Hispanic people only work low-end jobs.

Now, a former Trump White House official has joined the chorus of those who have a problem with Trump’s comments.

Former Mike Pence Homeland Security staffer Olivia Troye, a child of a Mexican immigrant mother, previously said Trump’s comments comparing Biden officials to Nazi “Gestapo” were based on projection. This weekend, however, she took to social media to call out her former boss for demeaning her own background.

“Trump’s comments during the debate [and] on the campaign trail about migrants taking ‘Black’ [and] ‘Hispanic’ jobs seem to imply that these communities are only suited for certain types of jobs,” Troye wrote. “For the record: this Hispanic served as assistant to the Secretary of Defense, advisor to two heads of intelligence agencies [and] as homeland security/counterterrorism advisor to the Vice President of the United States.”

The ex-Trump advisor then added, “Hope this inspires others to pursue the American dream like I did as the child of immigrants.”
