Meta announced Meta AI, the company’s first Gen AI-powered virtual assistant, for Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp, last year. Back then, It was powered by the Llama 2 large language model (LLM) and available only in the United States.
Earlier this year, the company upgraded Meta AI with Llama 3 and made it available in more countries, including Australia, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Now Meta has launched Meta AI in India.

Meta has announced that it has started rolling out Meta AI on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp in India. The company will also make it available on the web at this website. The company’s Gen AI-powered chatbot will be available in the country only in the English language. At the moment, it is unclear if Meta will make Meta AI available in the apps of those platforms through an update to them or through a server-side change.

You will be able to access Meta AI on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp from the search bar and in a chat, among other ways. The chatbot will provide you with many functionalities, including answering your questions about a wide number of things, writing content, and generating images. It can also help you with posts on these platforms, giving you options to know more about the content that’s in them.
