Marvin Harrison Jr. Signs First Cardinals Contract

Marvin Harrison Jr.‘s future in the NFL has been obvious for a few years now.

The wide receiver made it official on Thursday when he signed his first pro contract, getting his four-year deal with the Cardinals with a team option for a fifth season in 2028.

“It’s my first job,” Harrison said with a smile. “Ever since I got here I’ve been telling people I’m going to work — it’s not practice anymore.”

The Cardinals are down to three unsigned draft picks: first-round defensive lineman Darius Robinson, third-round running back Trey Benson and safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson.

The deal, as with most rookie contracts slotted already before the picks are made in the draft, reportedly will be worth $35.3 million guaranteed, with a $22.5 million signing bonus. As the fourth overall pick, he is the highest choice in the draft to sign, with top three quarterbacks Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye still negotiating contracts.

Harrison is expected to be a major contributor to the offense immediately as the top wide receiver, although coach Jonathan Gannon has stressed the need to treat Harrison like any other rookie.

“All the guys around, offense and defense, have done a great job welcoming me,” Harrison said. “I’m excited to go out there, earn the trust of my teammates, and earn a role any way I can.”

The Cardinals finished their first week of OTAs on Wednesday. They return to the field on Tuesday.

Harrison took a different tact in his pre-draft prep, choosing to prepare for football practice rather than combine drills, and he said it’s showing now that he’s on the field.

“I like where I’m at going into the offseason and going into training camp (in July),” Harrison said. “Hopefully you see some good things in September.”
