Losing Online Gambling, Man In Gowa Makes Loss Report To Police

A man in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, reported to the police because Rp. 3 million in cash and his cellphone was stolen after being hypnotized by the person he was riding on his way home.

However, that turned out to be just a cover. Because the man turned out to lose while playing online gambling using the Rp. 3 million, including the money from the sale of his cellphone. Fear of being caught and being scolded by his wife, the man made a false report to the police.

The man named Alvin Eko Saputra (27) is a resident of Jalan Baso Tappa, Panciro Village, Bajeng District.

The Head of the Gowa Police Headquarters, Ipda Andi Muhammad Alfian, said that Alvin was arrested by the Gowa Police Resmob officer after making a false report to the police as if he was a victim of hypnosis until his cellphone and Rp 3 million of his money were stolen.

His lies were revealed when officers carried out a series of investigations. Starting from arresting the buyer of the cellphone to the employee where the electronic goods were pawned, the first time he bought Alvin’s cellphone.

“Initially we believed, but after we arrested two cellphone buyers who were suspected of being collectors of stolen goods, they were then uncovered,” said Head of Resmob Gowa Police, Ipda Andi Muhammad Alfian.

The employee, who was entrusted with pawning the electronic goods, admitted that he had bought a cellphone complete with the box for Rp. 1.6 million. Even the IMEI series number on the cellphone is in accordance with the packaging.

Suspicious of Alvin’s report, the officer then interrogated him. From the interrogation, Alvin finally admitted that he made a report of losing his cellphone and Rp. 3 million in cash by being hypnotized by pressure from his wife.

He admitted that he was forced to make a false report for fear of being caught by his wife if the money was used up by online gambling.

“When we interrogated him, he admitted that his cellphone was not stolen, but sold on his own after that making the police report appear to have been stolen by hypnotized,” he said.

As a result of Alvin’s false report, the officers also secured it and took it to the Gowa Police Headquarters for further investigation. Alvin engineered the case of theft of his cellphone and money to cover up lies to his wife.

Because of the false report he made, Alvin is now being held at the Gowa Police Headquarters and is undergoing further investigation.

“Alvin engineered the theft of his money and cellphone, because the money was used up to play online gambling slots. Fearing his wife’s discovery, Alvin admitted that his salary and cellphone were stolen, so Alvin was ordered to report it to the police,” he said.
